It is amazing how all newcomers to the world of the Internet seem to follow the same path. First they either buy or have built a simple website. If they are hoping to sell a product they will often join a simple e-store system such as offered by Yahoo or Ebay. Or barring that they will find a local web designer and pay around £500 to have a simple website design made. Now once their plan is unveiled to the world the joyously await an onslaught of happy visitors to their site who will be so pleased they will instantly buy the products offered.

After a month or so the new to the net site owner realizes that no one is coming to his or her site. They then begin to investigate and learn that there are one hundred thousand sites selling the same products and that those sites always come up on the first page of search engine results. They are now on the long arduous road of search engine optimisation. That being the process of configuring a website and its promotion so that their site can move up the line to a position on the coveted first page of results. More information on SEO and web promotion in general can be found by using a Google search for “webmasters blog”.
