So you just finished the last chapter of your novel. Imagine, two years and two hundred thousand words later it is complete. So now you go to start up your personal computer and send the files off to friends and publishers and your PC won’t load. In fact all you see is a bright blue screen telling you that there is an error. You can’t reload your operating system because it will erase your work. So what do you do? This is the classic scenario for which there is a need to recover data. Now the question is how do we get it done? Obviously two years work on a novel or thousands of business records are more valuable than the computer itself. We need to rescue our data and reload it somewhere secure.
The first step to recover data is to determine whether the cause of the failure is a physically damaged drive or simply a failed segment of our operating system. A broken device is usually apparent due to smoke or excessive noise from the area of the drive. In this case we must remove the hard drive unit and bring it to a skilled data recovery service lab. Only such a lab has the sterile conditions and skilled staff needed to recover data from a broken hard drive. Should the failure be due to a logic crash then what is needed is a powerful program for data recovery. These programs are targeted to specific operating systems such as windows or Apple and will quickly scan an entire drive. Once scanned the information on the crashed drive can be written to disk or saved elsewhere. For a complete explanation of how to recover data visit The Recover Data Blog.
